Sunset on Lake Otsego

I painted this plein air from the grounds of the Art Museum in Cooperstown, NY just as the sun was setting on a very hot July day.

Does the paint get stiff faster in high heat? Do you have to hurry to get it on the canvas?

Yes the paint could dry faster, but the reason for painting this scene so quickly was the fact that the sun was setting quickly behind the distant hills. Painting plein air in the evening is challenging as the light changes so rapidly.
