My latest painting has been a challenge. I still feel it may be unfinished and ask my artist friends for some constructive critique to help me "complete" this study of a dark storm over Essex. Any ideas or comments?
The skies in New England are awesome! This is from a photo I took on the coast of Maine. I painted it on a Hardwood panel rather than on linen or cotton canvas. I found that it was better to use soft haired brushes for this smooth surface. I like to experiment with different painting materials.
This is "Echo Farm" revised after previous post. I think I have made some important improvements. I like it much better now. A sunny winter day in New Hampshire.
Intrigued by this abandoned property in Sonoma County, I took a picture back in 2006 with the intent to paint from this photo some day. My imagination tells me there is an unresolved mystery here.
I started this painting some years ago and when it surfaced again this week, I decided to complete it (without any reference photo). I like the quiet but majestic mood of this scene.
