Today's painting was inspired by the beautiful multicolored daylillies in our garden. I tried to capture the vibrancy of these hybrids on a 6 x 8 inch canvas. It being summer, I may be painting more flowers in the weeks ahead. I often paint plein air (outside, alla prima) with a group called the Band of Brushes. In the weeks ahead I will post some of those paintings too. We are exhibiting our collected works at the Newburyport Art Association this month.
